本研究の目的は、第一に、世帯を単位とした従来の貧困把握の方法では見えなくなってしまう世帯内に隠れた貧困について、消費実態等が個人単位で把握できる日本におけるほぼ唯一のデータである「消費生活に関するパネル調査」のデータを分析することによって、その実態を実証的に把握することであった。英語圏における同様のデータの分析経験が豊富なGlasgow Caledonian University教授のSara Cantillonと共同でこの分析を行うことで、国際的にもユニークなデータソースである本パネル調査の分析を、国際的レベルの研究に発展させることを計画していた。本年度はグラスゴーに10ヶ月間滞在し、共同研究を行った。英語圏の類似データと比較して、本データの持つ特異性を整理し、分析の方針について今後の進め方を協議した。データの分析を開始し、英語論文の執筆を共同で進めた。本研究の第二の目的は、従来の貧困研究の方法とその背後にある貧困概念を、ジェンダーの視点から問い直す理論的検討を行うことであった。女性が世帯内で経験している不平等とそれゆえに生じる困窮状態を把握するためには、世帯単位で貨幣資源を把握するという従来の貧困研究の手法を超えて、個人単位かつ貨幣にとどまらない生活の把握と、その背後にある貧困概念の再検討に踏み込む必要がある。本年度は、英語圏におけるこの分野の研究の到達点を把握するとともに、世帯内部の資源配分を実証的に明らかにした日本の研究状況について、英語圏の研究状況のなかに位置づける英語論文を執筆した。
