项目摘要

本研究は、山谷・釜ヶ崎に住む日雇労働者、雑業就業者、生活保護受給者、野宿者の仕事・居住・生活を調査し、山谷と釜ヶ崎の共通・差異を分析し、寄せ場・山谷と釜ヶ崎の類型的把握をめざす。2022年度も、コロナ禍のため調査は困難であった。その中で次のような調査活動を行った。一つ、山谷と釜ヶ崎の労働市場と地域構造、人びとの労働・居住・生活に関する行政・NPO関連資料、先行研究本・論文の収集を行った。社会理論・動態研究所主催の下層労働研究会、山谷・釜ヶ崎研究会、Workshop on Urban Bottom（いずれもズーム、隔月）に参加し、関連情報と分析の示唆を得た。二つ、研究代表者と分担者の間で山谷・釜ヶ崎研究の目的・仮説・方法について研究会を行った（6月、10月、2023年1月、3月）。2022年には、広島での対面の研究会を行う予定であったができなかった。三つ、山谷・釜ヶ崎の労働者、福祉受給者、路上生活者、行政関係者、労働運動家、NPO関係者に対する面接調査を行った。山口、渡辺、結城は、調査対象者の聞き取りを一部対面で行った。大倉は西成労働福祉センター、関西光じゅ館（住居のない人の施設）、困窮者総合相談支援室Hippoの職員の聞き取りを行った（8月、11月）。渡辺は、釜ヶ崎で日雇労働者や野宿者、生活保護受給者と語らう「あいりんセンターの日」（毎月）で聞き取りを行った。四つ、夏祭りや越冬闘争、夜間パトロール、炊き出しなどの行事・催しへの参与観察を行った。青木は山谷と釜ヶ崎で参与観察を行い、支援団体（釜ヶ崎医療センター、もやい）代表の聞き取りを行った（山谷は2022年11月、釜ヶ崎は2022年12月、2023年2月、3月に各1週間滞在）。このように2022年もコロナ禍の中であったが、山谷・釜ヶ崎調査、文献資料と研究会による情報収集が行われ、予定した調査はほぼ完了した。
