2022年度は、対象の東アフリカ諸国のうちエチオピアの調査を強化するため、同国の革靴製造業の研究を専門としている、松原加奈東京理科大学助教が分担者に参加した。本年度は夏季に入って以降、コロナ禍の影響が弱まり、東アフリカへの渡航が容易になった。そのことを受けて、9月にケニア・ナイロビにおいて金属加工業、ソファ製造業、さらに10月以降、ウガンダ・カンパラにおいてものづくりのための職業訓練について調査を行った。また2月には、ケニア・ナイロビにおいてソファ製造業、革靴製造業、エチオピア・アディスアベバにおいて革靴製造業、ウガンダ・カンパラにおいてものづくり職業訓練の調査を引き続き行った。これらの調査活動を通じて、技術共有が開放的である場合と、閉鎖的な場合との違いやその背景を考えるのに適した事例を発見することができた。そのうちの一つである、ケニアのソファ製造業の事例で低所得者向けのソファを各事業者が共通のデザインで生産している集積地では、とりわけ同じ民族の間で技術が広く共有されていた。そこでは、労働者が異なる事業者のために働くことが許容されていた。他方で、高所得者向けのソファを生産している別の集積地ではデザインの差別化が進んでいるが、年配の多数派民族の間では、前者の集積地と同様の技術共有が見られる一方で、少数派の民族の出身の若手の事業者は、頻繁に新しいデザインの開発に取り組んでおり、新しいデザインの他事業者による模倣を防止ないし、遅らせようとしていた。そのための一手段として、従業員の他事業者のための労働を禁じて、新しいデザインの製法などの技術情報を流出させまいとしていた。こうした知見をはじめとする本研究の成果を、国際開発学会、日本アフリカ学会の大会において発表した。
