Hans-Georg Geyer (1929-1999) is among the intellectually most challenging theologians of the 20th century even if he has only published a relatively small number of scientific contributions. Geyer's "way of thoroughly thinking through dogmatic topics" (D. Korsch) makes his writings seem contextless. However, a recent (2014) list of the archival units of his scientific inheritance suggests that a theological, philosophical, ecclesial, political and societal contextualisation of his influential essays would be a fruitful scientific enterprise. This is what the present project is going to do over a period of 18 months. It envisages two core objectives: a) to work with the archival material of his inheritance in order to create hypotheses for a contextualisation of Geyer's work; b) to run a workshop based on these hypotheses which brings together experts both in Geyer's work and in the neighbouring topics that are relevant for contexutalising his work.
