認知機能低下リスクのある軽度認知障害（Mild Cognitive Impairment: MCI）高齢者へのダンス介入の効果を、生化学的、認知神経科学的、神経心理学的に調べるためのデータ収集プロトコルを実装した。コロナ禍の病院事情により、予定していた病院の外来で軽度認知障害と診断された患者を紹介してもらうことが困難となったため、代わりに、自前で地域にチラシを戸別配布して研究プロジェクトの説明会を２ヶ月に1回程度開催し、「もの忘れが気になる」方で興味を持っていただけて選定基準に適合する方に参加を依頼することとした。参加希望者からMCI相当者を同定するために、CDR（Clinical Dementia Rating）の質問項目および神経心理学検査の得点を参照する方法により、概ね求める参加者像を抽出できることを確認した。参加者への介入前の事前検査ののち、ランダムに介入群と統制群に振り分け、介入群には３ヶ月計12回のダンス教室に通ってもらい、統制群には待機してもらった。介入後（統制群は待機後）に事後検査をおこない、事前検査のデータとの比較を両群でおこなうことで介入効果を調べられるところまで漕ぎ着けた。本報告書作成時点までに第１期、第２期参加者の事後検査まで終了し、計18人のデータ取得が完了した。ただし、まだサンプルサイズが小さいため、次年度に、第３期、第４期のデータ収集を完了してから統計解析をおこなう予定である。これまで、参加者からは、ダンス介入の効果があったと自分でも感じるが、研究参加期間が終わって何も自分でしないと機能低下が始まるのではないかと不安の声をいただいており、こうした声への対応も含め、実践的なフォローが必要であることがわかった。
