本研究は、感染症拡大に伴い渡航が困難になったことを受けて、ウィーンを中心とする現地調査を実施することができなかったため、これまでに得られた建築家パウル・エンゲルマンが描いたストンボロー邸初期のスケッチ資料から、各スケッチ（平面・立面・外観パース・内観パース）の分類およびそのその特徴について、設計過程の変遷を整理しながら考察の作業を進めてきた。これまでの研究成果で、エンゲルマンの建築的特徴として「三次元的な空間」が、ストンボロー邸を含む一連の建築作品に展開されていることを見出した。本年度は、エンゲルマンの「三次元的な空間」という発想の源流を把握するべく、エンゲルマンが学生時代に建築家アドルフ・ロースの下で建築を学んでいたこと、そしてロースと協働で建築設計の作業に従事していたことを踏まえ、エンゲルマンに影響を与えた可能性の高いロースの建築的特徴である「ラウムプラン（三次元的な空間構成）」との比較・考察を行なった。具体的には、ロースの建築空間に内在される「ラウムプラン」は、1931年にロースの弟子ハインリッヒ・クルカによって概念化されたものである。しかしながら、エンゲルマンの著作『ADOLF LOOS』（1946年）のなかでは、「ラウムプラン」の用語を用いることはせずに「ラウムプランニング」とing形で表現されていることを確認した。さらに、これまでの近代建築史上に叙述されたロース建築の解釈は、クルカの「ラウムプラン」の概念に寄与するところが大きいが、エンゲルマンの「ラウムプランニング」についても看過することのできない概念であることを指摘した。以上は、2023年度日本建築学会大会（近畿）で発表を予定している。
