最終年度は、明治期のセメント美術を研究の対象とした。明治期のセメント美術の作品は、現存例が見当たらず、また関連資料も多く残されていなことなどが理由となり、不明点が多い。わずかな資料と写真を手掛かりとして推察するに、日本におけるセメント美術の始まりは、1900年代初頭（明治30年代半ば）と考えられる。その流れは官民の2種に大別される。官の文脈では、東京美術学校の教授陣がセメントを用いて彫刻を制作した事例を指摘できる。第五回内国勧業博覧会の出品作《楊柳観音》《龍女神像》をはじめ、海野美盛（二代目）がセメントで原型を作りブロンズ鑄造で仕上げた《地蔵菩薩像》などが指摘できる。民の文脈では、緑谷友吉のような左官職人がセメントを用いて作品を仕上げた事例を挙げることができる。専門的な美術教育の有無は問わず、明治30年代に作品が登場する点は興味深い。研究期間全体を通じては、特に戦後の動向の把握が深まった点は意義深いと思われる。セメント彫刻の野外展覧会を経済的に支援した企業の所蔵資料の発掘、当時の関係者へのインタビュー、日本各地で実施した現地調査などを実施し、その成果は口頭発表や論文投稿を通じて積極的に公表した。本研究では、従来ではほとんど取り上げられてこなかったセメントに着目し、素材研究という観点から研究を実施し、金属・木材・石材などの伝統的な素材に、近代になりセメントが新たに加わり、セメント美術というジャンルが成立したことを結論とし、日本美術史上に位置づけた。
