延長となった2022年度は，１）対象地内の市町村史や郷土史などに記載されていた情報から現存する神社の位置を推定し，その位置を仮の位置情報としてデジタルマップに転記する事例をさらに増やした。デジタルマップは，紀伊半島を和歌山県北部（紀北），和歌山県中部（紀中），和歌山県南部（紀南），三重県南部（尾鷲市，熊野市，北牟婁郡紀北町以南，南牟婁郡），奈良県南部（五條市，吉野郡），奈良県中部（御所市，桜井市，宇陀市，高市郡）のレイヤーに分けて整理した。各ポイントは，主祭神別に色分けして記録した。また，各神社に祀られている主祭神以外の祭神も調べ，祭神別のレイヤーも作成した。文献情報から旧社地の位置が明らかになった場合は，その位置もマップに記載した。これらマッピングの作業は，想定神社数から推定し，概ね90％まで達成できた。その一方で，紀伊半島では把握できない火山災害についての基本情報の必要性を認めたため，阿蘇山周辺の神社についての調査も継続で実施した。次に，前年までと同様に，２）そのマップ情報を元に実際に現地調査を実施し，正確な位置が確認できた神社と未踏の神社をマップ上でアイコンを変えて識別する作業を継続した。現地調査では，主に本殿の位置の緯度・経度・高度をGPSで把握し，本殿や拝殿，鳥居などの祭祀建築物，手水舎，社務所など付帯設備，参道の状況を確認するとともに写真に記録した。また，位置が確認できた旧社地，跡地についても場所の把握と写真に記録した。聞き取り調査が実施できた案件では，祭祀の状況（過去含む）や氏子の現状などを聞き取り，得られた情報を記録した。さらに，３）災害史などに記載された被災した神社の情報を抽出し，その被災状況についても整理した。いずれも継続調査であったが，これまでに得たデータの件数を増やすだけでなく精度を向上させた。
