本研究はIRのプロフェッショナル養成問題について、IR先進国である米国の現状を調査し、その実態と特性を明らかにすることによって、日本におけるIRプロフェッショナル養成課程の構築に役立つ基本的な知見を得ることを目的としている。本研究では、こうした目的から、米国のIRプロフェッショナル養成課程のカリキュラム、教育方法、修了認定等の複数の側面を調査し、各大学の特性と共通要素を明確にした上で、IRプロフェッショナル養成課程の米国モデルを可視化し、日本における深刻なIR人材不足の問題解決に一定の参考と示唆が得られることを期待する。具体的なスケジュールは1年目に各種調査を実施し、2年目に調査結果の分析および研究結果の公開等を行う予定であったが、コロナの影響で進捗が遅れ、研究期間の延長を申請した。昨年度まで主に現地調査を実施するための事前準備を行い、調査対象大学の関連情報を収集し、英文を和訳したうえで共通の調査質問票を作成した。調査に関して、コロナの影響で現地調査ができない状況にあり、代わりに担当者計9人にオンラインインタビューを実施した。その他、米国IRプロフェッショナル養成課程に在籍している学生（社会人学生を含む）計6人にオンラインインタビューを実施し、計13大学のIRプロフェッショナル養成課程のカリキュラムを分析し、共通点と相違点をまとめた。さらに、IRプロフェッショナル養成課程の中、近年流行しているBIツール関連のIR能力育成にも着目し、実際の事例を取り上げ、ケーススタディを行った。今年度はペンシルベニア州立大学、インディアナ大学とアリゾナ州立大学の担当者を対象にオンラインインタビューを実施した上、インディアナ大学の担当者に協力してもらい、関連研究資料のアップデートができた。また、コロナ禍における養成実態に関するケーススタディの一部結果を国内の学会で発表した。
