本研究の目的は、循環器系併存症の観点からみた心原性脳塞栓症患者のデータベースを構築することである。 本年度においても、作成したデータベースに登録する患者を蓄積した。報告者が所属する研究機関においては問題なく患者の登録を行えており、研究遂行に大きな支障は無い。本研究に関連し、本データベースも活用した論文を、本年度1本投稿中である。脳梗塞に対する超急性期治療に、組織プラスミノーゲンアクチベータ（tissue-plasminogen activator:t-PA）投与がある。現在の本邦ガイドラインでは、出血性合併症を危惧してt-PA投与から24時間以内の抗血栓薬投与は推奨されていない。しかし、現実的には主に血管内治療を併用した患者において、治療効果（頸動脈または頭蓋内血管ステント留置の際にその開存性を保つ、バルーンカテーテルなどにより血管形成術を施行した際に再狭窄を防ぐ、など）を保つために抗血栓薬が使用されることがある。しかし、その効果と安全性は分かっていなかった。そこで、本データベースの情報も援用しながら、t-PA投与24時間以内に抗血栓薬を使用される患者の特徴、それら24時間以内の抗血栓薬の効果・安全性に関して検討し、国際誌に投稿中である。このように、比較的順調に研究は進んでいると考えていたが、報告者のやむを得ない事情により研究機関を退職することとなり、研究を中途で終了することとなった。自施設では研究遂行、患者登録に支障はなく、特色あるデータベースを整備できたと考えたが、データベースの多施設共有などに課題を残した結果であった。
