本研究は古墳時代中期の奈良市佐紀古墳群とその埴輪の生産地である平城宮東院下層埴輪窯を対象とし、埴輪の生産・流通体制を多角的かつ実証的に跡付け、王権中枢部を構成する巨大古墳群の造営体制や階層構造を解明することを目標とする。本年も引き続き、東院下層埴輪窯、およびその周辺から出土した埴輪を三次元モデルとして資料化する作業に鋭意取り組んだ。本年度中にピックアップ済の全資料に対して、デジタル画像を撮影し、Agisoft社のMetashape Proを用いて三次元モデルを作成する作業を完了させた。さらに、完成したモデルを実測図用に加工する方法をマニュアル化し、アシスタントにも共有して同作業に着手した。また、昨年度来、進めてきた対象資料のハケメパターン抽出作業についても、抽出可能な資料についてはすべて基本パターンの抽出を終えることができた。胎土の科学分析については、野焼き⇔窖窯焼成、褐・橙色⇔白色との対応関係を考慮しながら、ICP分析による高精度材料調査と通常の蛍光Ⅹ線分析の両者の分析値の相違を検証した結果、見た目の色調の相違よりも、野焼き⇔窖窯焼成の差の方が分析値に有意な差が存在する見通しが出てきた。すなわち、同じ平城宮東院下層埴輪窯においても、時期差、ひいては主たる供給古墳の相違によって、使用胎土の採取地が微妙に異なる可能性が浮上した。今後のサンプル数の蓄積により、製品の流通経路がかなり鮮明化できることが期待される。関連する土師器・須恵器資料、他機関資料についても、分担者、協力者が鋭意、資料の図化や分析を実施し、成果の一部を論文・報告書等で公表した。2023年１月13・14日には、分担者・協力者が参加して検討会を実施し、奈良県立橿原考古学研究所所蔵のヒシャゲ古墳出土埴輪の実見・検討をおこなうとともに、今年度の進捗状況と来年度の作業計画について、確認および意見交換をおこなった。

The purpose of this study is to investigate the Hanning-wheel kiln on the lower floor of the Heisei Palace East Yard in the Saki Ancient Tomb Group in Nara City in the middle of the Furun Period, to provide evidence of the multi-faceted production and distribution system of Hanning-wheel, and to explain the manufacturing and management system and hierarchical structure of the huge ancient tomb group that constitutes the central part of the Wang Dynasty.
