项目摘要

廃屋墓（はいおくぼ）は縄文中期に関東地方を中心に検出される、住居内に遺体を埋葬する特殊な葬法である。かつては出土人骨群は病気や事故により同時に死亡した、その住居の住人＝“家族”であるとされ、縄文時代の家族関係や婚姻関係といった社会的組織を解釈する基盤となってきた。近年は何らかの関係をもつ個体をある程度の期間をおいて一つの廃屋に埋葬したとの考えが主流となっている。本課題の目的は複数の個体が出土している廃屋墓例において、これらの個体間の生物学的な関係を明らかにすることである。廃屋墓の人骨群に遺伝的血縁関係や形態的類似性があるのか、同居していた“家族”とみなせるのか、人骨群は埋葬されたのか遺棄されたのかを問い、骨考古学、形態人類学、骨科学（DNA分析、年代測定、食性分析）的観点から科学的に分析し、親族関係と埋葬プロセスを明らかにしようと試みている。本年度は神奈川県三ツ澤貝塚、東京都千鳥窪塚、千葉県西広貝塚、根郷貝塚の人骨について、出土状況や個体識別の確認作業を終えた。各個体からDNA分析、安定同位体分析、年代測定のためのサンプリングを行った。また、廃屋墓での遺体の腐朽と骨の移動理論を検証するため、北海道伊達市においてブタ遺体を用いた実験を2022年秋から開始し、継続中である。さらに、第76回日本人類学会大会・第39回日本霊長類学会大会連合大会にてシンポジウムを行い、本年までの研究成果について発表した。
