2020年度に本研究プロジェクトを開始する以前から継続している新型コロナウィルスの感染拡大状況が改善せず、Stayhome,Social Distancingを基調とした研究活動に方向転換をし、2年目はオンライン研究会を中心に活動を進めてきた。そうした中で最近の人類学の新しい取り組みであるデジタル人類学にもプロジェクトチームとして関心を寄せ、先駆的研究者をオンライン研究会にお呼びしながらその手法を学び、研究活動の新しい展開を検討し始めた。2021年6月21日に大阪大学の森田敦郎氏をオンライン研究会にお招きし、デジタル人類学の基本的な理論、発展経緯及び将来的な可能性について講演をいただいた。また、9月18日にはデジタル人類学の方法論的な内容を学ぶために、菅原裕輝氏、神崎隼人氏をお招きし、デジタル人類学研修会をオンラインにて開催した。追加で2022年1月22日にも菅原氏を再度お招きしハイフェ等スクローリングを実行するプログラムの運用方法に関する研修会も開催した。ウェブスクローリングの原理、作業方法の具体的な流れを把握し、Twitterのハッシュタグ分析の実際等をまなび、プロジェクトメンバーの間では、自分の研究フィールドや内容に合わせてデジタル人類学を活用する可能性がかなり広がった。加えて、南三陸町観光協会の方々をお招きし、南三陸町とオンラインでつながるワークショップを2022年2月26日に開催した。本年度は現地を訪れることはほとんどできなかったものの、オンラインによるつながりを頼りに、情報交換や協働を試みる活動が展開された。今後もこうしたハイブリッドなフィールドとのつながりをさらに新しい手法で展開する可能性を模索しながら活動を継続していく。
