仏領ポリネシアとマーシャル諸島で実施された核実験によるそれぞれの島や環礁で暮らす人々の暮らしへの影響についての研究を継続した。2021年度は8月2日に第５回研究会（中原発表）と9月21日に第6回研究会（黒崎発表）の2回の研究会をオンラインで開催した。桑原はハオ環礁の水資源の確保方法が前進基地設置期と基地撤退後では異なり、周辺の環礁よりハオの人々が乾季に苦労している点について研究を進めた。前進基地設置期にハオ環礁では海水ろ過装置で浄化した水は基地使用だけではなく、環礁住民に飲用水・生活用水用に無料で配給されていたが、核実験終了後にフランス軍が撤退し、基地施設は解体されてインフラの整備も途絶えた。海水ろ過装置の故障後、環礁住民は基地設置前の雨水貯留や環礁レンズ内の淡水利用による水の確保に戻ったが、海水ろ過装置の使用期間中に水資源確保の在来知が途絶えていたために、同様の自然環境である周辺の環礁より乾期の水不足をより深刻に経験している。中原は日本にあるマーシャル諸島核実験に反対した米国人人類学者に関する資料を収集した。また、マーシャル諸島核実験に反対する世界的な動向も調査した。黒崎は太平洋諸島の地域協力機構である太平洋諸島フォーラム（PIF）でのコミュニケの分析を中心に、反核運動及び非核地帯化の歴史的経緯についての文献調査を実施した。その成果は、PIFをめぐる各島嶼国の政治動向として論文等で発表した。吉村は日本統治下時代に調査、研究された毒魚に関する資料の収集を行うとともに、生物学的情報のアップデートを行った。また、それらをもとにマーシャル諸島における毒魚認識の調査を行うための基礎資料を作成した。
