本研究では、ある企業が輸出を始めることが、その企業とつながりのある他の企業の経済活動に対してどのような波及効果があるのかを定量的に明らかにするものである。本年度はまずベトナムのハノイ周辺のいくつかのアパレルテキスタイル産業を訪問し、企業の経営者に対して、輸出活動、取引相手や情報交換相手などのネットワークに関する質的なインタビューを実施した。このインタビュー調査では、買い手などの取引関係のある企業同士で、製品の品質の向上に関連する重要な情報交換が活発に行われていることが明らかになった。さらに、こうした質的な調査に基づいて、本研究テーマを定量的に検証するために適切な産業クラスターとして刺繍産業を選択した。次にハノイ周辺の複数の刺繍産業クラスター内の全生産者を対象に企業調査を実施した。企業調査では、企業の基本的な情報（売上、従業員数、輸出活動など）に加えて、経営者の基本情報（年齢、性別、刺繍産業で働いている年数）、同産業クラスター内における企業間のつながり（取引ネットワーク、親族ネットワーク、情報交換ネットワークなど）、刺繍製品の特徴や単価などに関する質問を行った。今後の研究の展開としては、調査を行った産業クラスターをランダムに2つの刺繍産業クラスターに分け、いずれの一方の刺繍産業クラスターに対して輸出が促進されるような介入を行う。さらに、数カ月後に同一の企業を対象に同様の企業調査を行うことで、輸出を促進するような介入が、介入を受けた企業とその企業とつながりをもった企業に対してどのような波及効果があるのかを定量的に検証する。
