本研究では、南北朝期における室町幕府政所の実態を明らかにすることを目的としている。本年度は、前年度までに行った史料収集・分析の成果を踏まえ、論文作成に注力した。その結果、二本の論文の掲載が決定した。一つ目は「南北朝期室町幕府の政所執事と二階堂氏」である。本論文は、政所執事就任のあり方について論じたものであり、政所執事の頻繁な交代の背景に建武政権の影響があることを指摘した。また、政所執事と密接に関連する御所奉行についても検討し、将軍家に近侍していた人物が御所奉行や政所執事に就任するという構造を明らかにした。二つ目は「南北朝期室町幕府の巻数請取状に関する基礎的研究」である。本論文は、政所執事などが発給を行っていた巻数請取状について論じたものであり、巻数請取状の様式や発給者に変遷があったことや、文言の違いから発給者の立場が明らかになること、観応擾乱の影響、二階堂・伊勢氏の活動などについて指摘した。また、論文掲載には至らなかったが、伊勢氏の政所執事就任に関する論文も執筆した。伊勢氏のなかで初めて政所執事に就任した伊勢貞継が、足利尊氏とほとんど接点をもっておらず、義詮の近習として活動していたことや、伊勢氏の政所執事就任に伴って評定参加者の変化や政所執事代の辞任慣行（政所執事代が式評定衆になると、政所執事代の役職を辞任すること）が生じたことを明らかにしている。本論文については、今後、学会誌への掲載を目指したい。これらの一連の研究により、南北朝期室町幕府の政所について議論を進めることができた。南北朝期の政所はこれまで研究が行われてこなかった分野であるため、新たな成果となった。また、前後の時代との連続性や断絶性も指摘をしており、長期的な視野を提示した。加えて、議論の少なかった評定衆の実像を明らかにしたことも成果の一つであろう。これらの点が、本研究の意義であると考えている。
