The aim of this study is to understand and predict the distribution of sewage markers in Tokyo coastal area after CSO (combined sewer overflow) events. Multiple water sampling campaigns were conducted after rainfall events to collect data including basic water parameters, PPCPs and E. coli concentrations.A 3D water quality model was developed to reproduce PPCPs and E. coli concentration in the area. The accuracy of model prediction was improved by applying decay/inactivation rate by sunlight and salinity, which were obtained from laboratory experiments. A large number of simulations were conducted to predict temporal change of E. coli concentration after various rainfall events and under different tidal conditions. Simulation results were compiled into a database including time and level of contamination. The purpose of the database is to be used for water safety forecast system and better CSO events characterization in the future.
