本研究では人が超自然的存在を認識するのはなぜか,その認知メカニズムの詳細を明らかとするため，民俗学的な知見からの調査とフィールドワークを実施し，その結果に基づいた環境要因を取り入れた認知実験を実行してきた。これまでの研究から，特定の時間帯での顔パレイドリア検出傾向の変化が示された。この詳細について明らかにするために検討を行った結果，夕刻や深夜といった時間帯が個人の不安状態の程度や超自然的存在出現への期待の高まりといった心理的要因に影響し，顔パレイドリア検出を過敏にしている可能性が示唆された。令和4年度はこれまでの成果を総括し，上記の成果を報告する論文の執筆に着手した。その他，昨年から計画されてきたが悪天のため延期した富士山へのフィールドワーク調査を夏季に実施した。また，本年度はオンライン実験を中心にすすめるべく感受性に着目したデータ収集を進めた他，対面での実験を一部再開することができた。さらに，数年に渡って携わってきた国際共同研究論文のうち２本がアクセプトされた他，共同研究の第二著者として国際誌に論文を掲載するに至っている。また，夏季には日本心理学会で研究成果の報告を行っている。採用期間内での研究成果をまとめた論文2本は現在，国際誌へ投稿中である。このほかにも，共同研究の結果を国際誌へ投稿している。採用期間内の研究成果の全てを報告していくために，今後も研究成果の報告と論文執筆・対応に携わっていく。
