【意義・目的・重要性】本研究の目的は、ポン教の祖師伝の研究を通してポン教の儀礼と神観念について明らかにし、更にフィールド調査を通じてその視覚化をおこなうことにある。今日、インド・ネパール・中国のチベット人（蔵族）居住地域ではチベット仏教の信仰が主流だが、彼らの社会ではポン教起源の神が信仰されていることも多い。そのためポン教研究は、チベット人の信仰体系や宗教文化の全容を解明するうえで極めて重要である。研究の手順としては先ずポン教の祖師伝を取り上げ、ポン教学僧との共同作業を通じてその校訂・翻訳作業を行う。次にネパールのポン教寺院でフィールド調査を実施し、同祖師伝に記される儀礼が実際に行われている様子を撮影、更に神々の図像の撮影を行う。以上の作業を通じて、文献学的研究とフィールド研究の両面から、ポン教の儀礼と神観念の基本構造について明かにすることを目指す。【2022年度実績】（1）シェンラプ・ミボ伝の一つ『光線（セルミク）』の訳注作業を行い、その一部を発表した（「『セルミク』第10章訳注」大東文化大学紀要 (61) pp.93-109 2023年3月）。また『光線（セルミク）』に記されるポン教の神々の名称について、他の文献（特に『集経』と『栄光』）に記される神名との比較作業を行い、その対照表を作成した。（2）2022年8月下旬と2023年2月下旬～3月上旬にネパールのポン教寺院に滞在し、（1）の作業を進める中で生じた疑問点についてポン教の学僧と対面で意見交換を行った。また『光線（セルミク）』に記される儀礼について、その儀礼がいつ、どのような手順で行われるのか、またどの経典に基づいて行われるのかということについてポン教僧たちから聞き取り調査をおこない、その執行方法や撮影方法について学僧たちと相談した。（3）ポン教僧に儀礼執行の準備を依頼し、一部の儀礼具についてはその撮影を行った。
