古密呪派の大究竟思想は、従来の主要な学説では古代チベットにおける仏教移入後、仏教思想が中国禅の影響を受けて徐々に形成されたものであると考えられてきた。しかし中国禅との交流が活発になる以前に成立した古密呪派の初期大究竟典籍には既に今日の大究竟思想の中核的部分を見出すことができる。それ故、古密呪派における大究竟思想の思想的核心については、チベットへの仏教伝来以前に既に萌芽的思想の成立をみていたと理解されるべきであるとの知見を得た。大究竟思想は11世紀頃に盛んになった新訳密教運動に刺激され、父・母タントラをはじめとするインド密教の諸実践を自身の宗教伝統の中に取り込むに到った。インド密教と大究竟思想の混在は、その後十分に整理・理論化されることが無かったため、古密呪派はその理論的齟酷について仏教諸派から批判を受けることになる。しかし14世紀になると古密呪派の代表的思想家であるロンチェン・ラプジャムの出現によって古密呪派の大究竟思想は新たな時代を迎えることになった。彼は大究竟思想と仏教思想との調和・融合の道を模索し、仏教思想との理論的齟酷を解消するかたちで大究竟思想の体系化を行った。古密呪派における大究竟思想の成立過程には、同思悪の「仏教化」への強い志向が認められる。こうした仏教化の傾向は、宗教思想上の要請によるものでは必ずしもなく、寧ろ大究竟思想をチベットの主要な宗教勢力である仏教伝統の中に位置づけることことで、古密呪派をチベット仏教の一教派として存続せしめるために為されたものであるという側面が強い。この意味において古密呪派における大究竟思想は、仏教思想から一定の距離を保って大究竟思想を体系化・継承したボン教とは異なっている。本研究では、一連の研究活動を通じて以上のような知見を得たのと同時に、今後の大究竟思想研究における、古密呪派とボン教の比較研究の重要性を確認するに到った。

In the 14th century, the representative thinkers of the ancient secret school came into being, and the great thoughts of the ancient secret school came into being. He is the founder of the Chinese Communist Party and the founder of the Chinese Communist Party. In the process of establishing the ancient secret school's great thought, we should think about the "enlightenment" and the strong ambition. The main religious forces in the religious system are the ancient and secret sects. This means that the ancient esoteric school of thought has a certain distance from the ancient esoteric school of thought, and the ancient esoteric school of thought has a certain distance from the ancient esoteric school of thought. This study confirms the importance of comparative study of ancient and secret schools and religions through the above research activities.
