2021度の研究で、「八月十五日夜或所歌合」、「寛平八年六月以前后宮胤子歌合」の注釈を行い、前者でも番われた二首の構成に留意したが、「春夏秋冬恋」の題を持つ「胤子歌合」がどのような意図で構成され、「番」はどのような意図をもって撰歌・構成されたかを新たな視点に加えることを決めて考察し、明らかにした。番の構成意図を探ることは、撰歌合としての歌合の構成意図の検討に繋がることを見据えてである。しかし、宇多院周辺の歌合について研究を進めるなか、同様に四季・恋題で構成される「寛平御時后宮歌合」についての考察が避けられないことを確認し、2022年度の課題として当初の実施計画に当該歌合を加えることとした。研究開始時には、まだ実態が十分には解明されていない小規模歌合を主に取り扱うこととしていたところであるが、「寛平御時后宮歌合」にはすでにいくつかの成果があり、歌数も、各二十番百首規模の大歌合である。しかし、資料の面から完全ではない歌合を扱う中で、大部の和歌をもつ歌合は、ある程度は本来の形を残していることが見込まれ、全体像が掴みやすい面があると考えた。平安時代初期の撰歌合に選ばれる表現や基準・方法・「新撰万葉集」との関連を総合的に探るために当該歌合の精査を行っている。2022年度の成果としては、「寛平御時后宮歌合」について、そもそも資料に残された「番」の「左右」のあり方の当否（その二首が当初の組み合わせであったのか、なぜ二首が組み合わされたのか）から検討が必要であることが明らかになった。先行研究にも時に指摘はなく、当初は番の組み合わせに問題があるとは想定していなかったが、注釈を進める中で、資料的にも、「番」の妥当性としても、精査が必要であることが解った。また、萩谷朴氏『平安朝歌合大成』で示される補遺の和歌についてもさらに丁寧な考察が必要であるなど問題の所在が確認されたところである。
