项目摘要

「主語後置」と「主語と助動詞の倒置(Subject-Aux Inversion: SAI)」を混ぜ合わせた特徴を有する構文があるとする Huddleston and Pullum (2002) の分析を批判的に検証し，2種類の異なる倒置文，すなわち「主語と助動詞が倒置する倒置文」と「複数の助動詞に主語が後続する倒置文」が存在することを明らかにした。後者の「複数の助動詞に主語が後続する倒置文」は，主要部移動である SAI では分析することのできない倒置文である。この構文に対して，上昇述語としての be に基づく分析を仮定し，複数の助動詞を伴う倒置文の基底構造は，概略，小節構造を含む構造(1)であるとする分析を提案した。(1)[e]TENSE/ (modal)(have)(be)[小節主部＋述部] 述語には，語彙的動詞としての being が含まれる。本研究では，複数の助動詞を伴う比較倒置 (comparative inversion: CI) において，助動詞に複数の動詞句内要素が後続することが観察されることから，LaCara (2015) の比較倒置に対する移動と削除に基づく分析に修正を加え，複数の助動詞を伴う倒置文に対する移動と削除に基づく分析を提案した。本研究における比較倒置 (CI) の統語構造及びその派生を詳細に記述すると，以下のようになる。小節の主語に先行するのは，AUX に支配される助動詞である。助動詞 be や have が AuxP の主要部 Aux で，Aux は補部として FocusP (FocP) を取る。FocP の指定辞が焦点を担い，強勢が置かれる主語や動詞句要素の着地点である。主要部 Foc が小節の VoiceP を，Voice が vP を，v が VP を補部に取る構造を仮定した。主語が vP の指定辞の位置から，最終的には FocP の指定辞の位置に移動する。この移動は，Probe-Goal のメカニズムに基づき，値を持たない素性に値を付与するために行われる移動操作である。
