项目摘要

一昨年度まで、CEFR-Ｊの一般紙の英字新聞に対する有効性を調査した。その結果、A1が約21-22%、A2が約19-21%、B1が約25%、B2が約16-18%で、CEFR-Jの収録語以外の語が約14-18%もあり、CEFR-Jの有効性に疑問が残った。その理由は、先行研究と私の研究から、「最低限の」語彙カバー率は95％であり、「望ましい」語彙カバー率は99％と言えるので、CEFR-Jのカバー率は約82-86％となり、「最低限」をも満たさないからである。そこで、昨年度は、CEFR-Ｊの学習者向け英字新聞に対する有効性を調査した。すると、A1が約29-32%、A2が約22-23%、B1が約20-24%、B2が約12-13%で、CEFR-Jの収録語以外の語が約10-12%であった。この結果、学習者にとって、学習者向けは一般紙よりは読みやすいが、やはりCEFR-Jの有効性に疑問が残ることがわかった。すなわち、CEFR-Jのカバー率は約88-90％となり、学習者向け英字新聞でさえ、「最低限」をも満たさないからである。しかし、CEFR-Jの語の出現頻度を調べてみると、頁により率にすると約92-4%であった。出現頻度の場合は、CEFR-J収録語以外の語の中には、品詞違い語や派生語が約32-37%含まれているので、実際のCEFR-Jの語の出現頻度は、計算上は、約94.7-96.0%以上になるので、「最低限の」語彙カバー率はクリアできると言えることがわかった。以上の結果から、学習者向け英字新聞でさえも、教材にする際には、学習者が読みやすくなるような工夫が必要であることがわかった。来年度は、この結果を受けて、別の学習者向け英字新聞を調査して、CEFR-Jの有効性を探る予定である。
