项目摘要

本年度は2021年に刊行した初代イタリア公使ヴィットリオ・サリエ・ド・ラ・トゥール伯爵の妻マティルドが遺した旅行記などの日本側史料について更なる研究を行いながら、マティルドという人物やこの史料の歴史的重要性を国内外に周知させるために、2022年7月に関西イタリア學研究会（ASIKA）において研究発表を行ったり、本年度7月にイタリアで出版される予定の『Fuori dal cono d'ombra』という日伊交流史における女性を中心とした書籍のマティルドに関する章を執筆した。また、2023年3月に、2020年に行う予定だったが新型コロナウイルスの蔓延によって行えなかった埼玉県、群馬県などにあるイタリア公使夫妻の一行が1869年に訪問した場所で、イタリア視察団を案内した者（遠藤しょう平）の末裔遠藤誠氏などに案内していただき、フィールドワーク・資料収集を目的とした旅行を行うことができた。その時に、イタリア公使の一行が訪れた寺院や施設を訪れることができただけでなく、前橋市にある群馬県立文書間などで史料調査を行うことができた。また、東京大学史料編纂所や横浜開港資料館でも日伊交流史や日本外交史を中心とした史料を閲覧することもできた。次に、1870年から1872年まで日本を含む東アジアに滞在したイタリア公使館の若い書記官ウーゴ・ピサの未刊旅行記の翻刻作業を進めながら、2022年9月にイタリア・ミラノにあるボッコーニ大学を訪れ、ピサに関する史料を閲覧・撮影することができた。最後に、過去にイタリア、そして日本で集めてきた膨大な量の史料を整理しながら、その内容を分析することによって、最重要な情報を再確認しながら、日伊交流史の黎明期を中心とした学術専門書の執筆活動を続けている。
