2022年度は、2月に始まったロシアによるウクライナ侵攻の影響で、現地調査を実施できない状況が続いている。2022年度は、6月20日に北海道大学総合博物館で礼文島香深井1遺跡出土の陶質土器（7世紀代と推定）を調査し、体部下半に縦方向の磨き痕跡を確認でき、当該土器が大陸産の可能性を持つことを確認した。9月12日に穴太遺跡（滋賀県大津市）出土帯金具、13日に平城京跡出土の渤海系土器の調査をおこなった。穴太遺跡の帯金具は中央に忍冬文を倒置して配し、左右に唐草文を置いている。同笵と思われる帯金具が韓国済州島の竜潭洞遺跡から出土しており、9世紀後半～10世紀前半の年代が推定されている。年代を元にすると、渤海で制作された可能性がある。13日は午前に奈良市埋蔵文化財センターでJR奈良駅西調査区153号井戸から出土した渤海土器（広口壺）を調査。8世紀後半の土器が共伴しており、渤海土器の年代を特定できる基準資料と評価できる。午後は、奈良国立文化財研究所で右京八条一坊十一坪（平城第149次）の調査で出土した渤海土器を調査。この資料は8世紀後半～9世紀前半の土器と一緒に出土している。11月14日～16日に、東京大学が所蔵する渤海東京（八連城）出土の石仏と瓦を調査。3月2日に、石川県埋蔵文化財センターで畝田ナベタ遺跡出土花文帯金具、加茂遺跡出土帯金具の観察と中村による３D撮影をおこなった。また、3日にはしいのき迎賓館セミナールーム（金沢市）で帯金具研究会を開催した。小嶋が「クラスキノ城跡出土の石帯製作技法について」、岡田有矢（大津市教育委員会）が「穴太遺跡の発掘成果と遺跡の性格」、鈴木舞（山口大学）が「遼代帯金具研究の現状」を報告、その後質疑討論をおこなった。
