この研究は、まず、個人の認知・判断プロセスを考慮した上で、行動・意識データからキャリブレーション可能な時空間アクセシビリティ指標を導出することを目的とする。また、ケーススタディを通じて、導出した指標の有用性や特徴を明らかにすることを目的とする。一定の時間予算内に私たちが都市施設・活動機会に赴く場合、まずは、そもそもどこかへ赴くかどうかを判断し、次に、具体的な行き先を決定すると考えられる。こうした段階的意思決定を考慮し、ネスティドロジットモデルに基づく時空間アクセシビリティ指標を理論的に導出した。この指標は、一般的によく知られた離散選択モデルに基づくものであるため、広く普及している統計ソフトウェアによってキャリブレーション可能である。この研究では、ある時空間制約シナリオの下でどのような行動を取るかを尋ねる選好意識調査を実施し、そのデータを用いて、導出した指標のパラメータ推定を実施した。その結果、実際に段階的意思決定が行われており、時間的制約下でのアクセシビリティを捉える上での導出指標の妥当性が示された。一般に、居住地選択においてアクセシビリティが少なからず関わることから、段階的意思決定を考慮した指標について、人口・土地利用データと比較・照合する分析を行うこととした。ただし、そのような分析を進めるにあたり、そもそも、時空間アクセシビリティ指標の空間分布の計算の方法論および実践的知見が確立していないことが明らかとなった。そこで、経路ネットワークデータの入手方法の検討、プログラミング言語によって時間地理学概念を操作化するコード作成、を行った。その結果、ハードウェア以外の経済的コストをかけることなく、時間予算内に到達可能な施設・機会の特定、それぞれにおける滞在可能時間などが計算可能であり、さらに、どのような種類の時空間アクセシビリティ指標も算出可能であることを明らかにした。
