第1に、アーカイヴ史料調査状況について述べる。当年5月になり、コロナ禍に由来する海外渡航自粛措置が解除された。ところが、主たるリサーチ先である在ジュネーヴ赤十字国際委員会アーカイブでは、コロナ禍以後も、閲覧利用条件が依然として制約されたままである（利用には8ないし11週前より申請すべきこと、1回の利用者は1名のみ。ちなみに、利用者は全世界から来訪する）。当年度のスイス渡航は断念せざるを得なかった。このため、当課題採択以前に在ジュネーヴ赤十字国際委員会アーカイブ、在ベルン・スイス連邦公文書館、在バーゼル・福音伝道団アーカイヴで蒐集した資料の閲読を進めた。このうち、在ブルネオ赤十字国際委員会代表フィッシャー博士とその家族の行方について、スイス外務省からの照会に対するオランダ政府側からの外交文書（オランダ語）の閲読を始めている。現在のところ、新しい事実の発見はない。第2に、関連文献調査について述べる。前年度に続き、Ｊ・ファン・デュルム他編『1942－1945年蘭印における日本軍収容所図解地図』（オランダ語、2001年）、ファン・フェルデン著『第二次世界大戦中の日本軍管理下民間人抑留所』（オランダ語、初出は1963年、1985年までに第4版）の閲読を進めている。これまでは図書館相互貸借で取り寄せでは、必要箇所のみをコピーし、閲読してきた。不可欠な文献であるにもかかわらず、一括して検討することができず、不便だった。そこで、当年度は、本研究費補助金の一部を使い、両書をも含めて、合計9件のオランダ語文献を新規購入し、研究体制の改善に努めた。なお、マリアンヌ・デューバッハ・ヴィッシャー著『聴診器を携え、小舟に乗って診療へ　－　ボルネオにおける医学博士フィッシャー・ミリウス夫妻の事績（1928―1943）』（ドイツ語、1998年）を引き続き閲読中である。
