本研究の目的は、米国の「国境の壁」をめぐる政策がトランプ政権以降、急進化している現状を多角的に考察したうえで、米墨（アメリカ・メキシコ）国境にどのような影響を及ぼしているのかを検証し、市民の生活圏としての国境ガバナンスの形成の意義を明らかにすることである。本研究の3年目にあたる令和4年度は、令和3年度に提出した博士学位論文「米国のホームランドセキュリティと国境ガバナンス―北米地域の政治学的考察」に大幅な加筆修正を行い、『国境産業複合体―アメリカと「国境の壁」をめぐるボーダースタディーズ』として青土社より公刊した。いくつかの書下ろしを加えたうえで、研究者ばかりではなく、一般読者にも分かり易いように表現なども見直し、写真や図表も多く掲載した。令和3年度の「実施状況報告書」において記載したように、2019年度に取得した米国における在外研究の成果を十分にふまえながら、博士学位取得から1年で著作として公刊できたことは、令和4年度の大きな成果であったと考えている。また、共著である『国際関係学―地球社会を理解するために（第3版補訂版）』では、担当箇所である「国境問題」に加筆修正を加え、現在のバイデン政権においても、国境の壁を造る政治・政策が継続され、ハイテク化された国境の壁の建設が推進されている現状についても論及した。令和4年度もコロナ禍にあって海外調査が計画通りに実施できなかったために、国内において調査活動を行った。ロシアによるウクライナ侵攻や中国の海洋活動の拡大などに代表されるように、国家間対立や地域情勢の影響を直接的に受ける日本の境界地域（稚内、石垣、隠岐の島）を訪れ、自治体関係者や住民から聞き取り行うことができた。国境問題の縮図である日本の境界地域の現状について正確に理解することは、本科研の方法論としてのボーダースタディーズの理論的彫琢を行ううえで重要であると認識した。

The purpose of this study is to investigate the current situation of the "border wall" of the United States from various angles, to examine the impact of the border wall on the people's living environment and to clarify the significance of the formation of the border wall. In the third year of this research, I presented my doctoral thesis "The State of the United States: An Investigation of Political Science in North America", which was revised greatly,"The State of the United States: Industrial Complex","The State of the United States: Wall","The State of the United States: Public Journal". The author of the book, the author of the book The "Implementation Status Report" of the 3rd year of Linghe recorded in the middle of the year, and the achievements of foreign research in the 2019 year were very high. The doctoral degree was obtained in the 1st year. The work was published in the public journal. The achievements of the 4th year of Linghe were examined. This article is co-authored with "International Relations-Understanding of Earth Society"(3rd Edition Supplement). It is written in the context of "Border Issues". It is written in the context of the current situation of politics, policy, and border construction. In 2004, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs conducted overseas investigation and domestic investigation activities. Japan's territorial areas (Chikouchi, Ishigaki, Shiki) are directly affected by the influence of inter-state relations and regional situations, and are visited by local authorities and residents. A correct understanding of the current situation of Japan's boundary problems is important for the methodology of this research.
