Watanabe and Yabu (2019)では、1985年から2017年までのデータを用いて、日本において貨幣需要関数は、semi-log formよりlog-log formの方が適切であったことを示している。これは金利が低下すると、貨幣需要は徐々に発散していくことを意味している。また、彼らは、低金利が長らく継続した後、金利が上昇した局面であった2006年に、貨幣需要関数が上方にシフトしていたことを明らかにした。彼らへの批判として、貨幣需要関数は2006年に上方シフトしたのではなく、これは一時的な現象だったのではないか、というものがあった。このため、我々はデータを2022年まで延長することで、貨幣需要関数の上方シフトが一時的なものであったかを確認した。その結果、2006年における貨幣需要関数の上方シフトは一時的なものではなく、その後も継続していたことを明らかにした。Watanabe and Yabu (2023)では、米国においてもlog-log formが正しいこと、また、低金利が長らく継続した後、金利が上昇した局面であった2015年において、貨幣需要関数が上方にシフトしていたことを明らかにした。これは低金利が継続した後、金利を上昇させた局面において、貨幣需要が低下しないことを意味している。
