本研究は、先進国だけでなく開発途上国でも広がる教育問題を研究対象としている。教育が与える影響を、制度面そして男女差といった視点から分析する点に本研究の特色がある。とくに昨年度は、韓国およびモンゴルのデータを用いて、それぞれの国における教育的課題の分析に取り組んだ。より具体的には、韓国を対象とした研究では、詳細なパネルデータを用いて、個々人の教育水準や結婚および子供の有無が労働市場においてどのような影響を与えるのかを分析した。固定効果モデルを用いた推定結果では、結婚および子育てによって賃金に有意な差が生じること、およびこうした効果には男女差があることが分かった。一方のモンゴルを対象とした研究では、とくに女性の労働力供給に焦点を当て、教育水準および子供の有無によってどのような違いが生じるのかを分析した。操作変数法という手法を用いた推定結果からは、女性が働くことを意思決定するに当たっては、教育水準のみならず、結婚後の子供の有無が大きな影響を与え、子育て期間中は大きく労働力が減少することが示された。いずれの研究も、結婚後や出産後にも特に女性労働力の維持を考えるに当たっては政策的含意の大きな内容であり、日本や他国、とくに先進国だけでなく開発途上国の今後にとっても重要な示唆に富むと言える。いずれの論文も共著者とともに学会で研究成果を報告しており、今後さらなる精緻化を踏まえて、国際学術誌への投稿と出版を予定している。
