本研究は、マルチ・チャネル・システムにおける企業間関係のガバナンスの問題に取り組んでいる。同じ製品・サービスの流通のために複数の異なる販売チャネルを併用することはマルチ・チャネル戦略と呼ばれるが、マルチ・チャネル・システムには、製造業者と流通業者間の垂直的関係と異なるチャネルの流通業者間の水平的関係があり、それぞれにガバナンスの問題が存在する。本研究はさらに、この垂直的および水平的関係のガバナンスの問題とマルチ・チャネル・システムの構造的特性との相互作用に焦点を当てている。当該年度、マルチ・チャネル・システムにおける企業間のガバナンスの問題とマルチ・チャネル・システムの構造的特性との関係について仮説を立てて、それらの仮説の検証を行った。具体的には、垂直的ガバナンス (製造業者と流通業者間の情報共有) と水平的ガバナンス (異なるチャネル間のコーディネーション) のチャネル・パフォーマンスへの直接効果、そしてそれらのパフォーマンス効果に対するChannel variety (チャネルの多様性を意味する尺度) とChannel duality (直接・間接の両チャネルを等しく利用している程度を示す尺度) の調整効果をテストした。分析結果は、垂直的ガバナンスの正のパフォーマンス効果は、Channel varietyが増すごとに弱められ、Channel dualityが高くなるほど強められることを示唆していた。本実証研究は、英語論文にまとめて、マーケティング分野のメジャージャーナルの一つであるJournal of Business Researchに投稿して、採択され、2023年2月に出版された。
