中国地方における居住支援法人による居住支援の実態を把握した。全国に687法人あるうち、中国地方には46法人と6.7％である。総人口では全国の5.8％に当たり、46法人が必ずしも少ないとは言えない。中国地方の5件でも法人数に下がり、最多は広島県22法人、最少は島根県と鳥取県が4法人である。各自治体のカバー状況（対象地区）を見ていくと、島根県を除く4県で県全域をカバーする法人はあるが、対象者が高齢者に限定される県もある。また、鳥取県では県東部、広島県では県北部において対象とされていない地区があり、偏りがあることがわかる。さらに、法人の形態により、支援内容に差異があることが分かった。N非営利法人では、入居前の入居相談や不動産情報の提供、入居後の見守りや安否確認、生活支援を行う法人が多く見られた。株式会社では、入居前の入居相談や不動産情報の提供、入居後の見守りや安否確認、生活相談が見られた。非営利法人は地元に事業所があり、直接的な支援を行っているが、株式会社の中には大都市に事業所があり、電話やネット等を通して支援を行う法人があった。対象者別では、高齢者への支援がもっと多く、次いで定額所得者の支援であった。最少は刑余者であった。刑余者の支援を行う法人では、100％の法人で不動産の情報提供を行っており、中には住宅自体を何らかの方法で提供している法人もみられた。契約手続きの支援については、外国人を対象とした法人の4割程度で行われていた。対象の法人を明確にしている場合、その対象者に即した支援を行っている場合が見られた。しかし県内のどこに住んでも支援が受けられるわけではないことが、今後の課題である。
