项目摘要

昨今のコロナ禍により奄美・沖縄での対面調査がほぼ実施できなかったものの、資料の確認と収集、聞き取り調査の対象者の選定、今後の調査の方向性について考察することができた。研究実績を以下の３点にまとめる。第一に、青年団に関する資料の調査先について、青年団事務所、市町村立図書館などに広げて調査し、新資料の発見につなげることができた。対象時期は占領期に限るものの、機関誌・紙に限定せず、総会資料や研修会の資料、文書綴りなどの所在を関係者への確認を元に可能な限り調査した。中頭郡青年団協議会の事務所や北谷町公文書館、与論町立図書館、喜界町立図書館では、青年団に関する新資料を収集することができた。今後は青年団作成の資料に限らず、地方新聞、自治体史や字誌の記述にも範囲を広げていく。第二に、コロナ禍でありながら、青年団経験者の貴重な証言を得ることができた。沖縄では、沖縄青年連合会の副会長を務めた伊狩典子さんのインタビューを沖縄県平和祈念資料館の映像アーカイブ事業と共同で実施することができた。このインタビューは資料館のHPに掲載される予定である。また、与論町では戦後および占領期について語れる人が少ない中で、４人の男性に聞き取りを行なった。与論町では、学校卒業後に島を出る若者が多く、青年団活動未経験者でが多いことがわかった。沖縄の中頭郡の青年団OBについては聞き取り対象者のリストを作成したが、コロナ禍で調査はまだ実現していない。第三に、青年団運動と祖国復帰運動の関係を分析する際、青年団における復帰運動は手段であり、島々によって運動への考え・方法に温度差があることに留意すべきである。奄美大島、沖縄島と他の島々では戦後復興も米軍の有無にも差異があり、青年団運動を島嶼性を欠いて統一的に捉える手法には与しない。今後は、奄美大島および沖縄島以外の島々の青年団を対象に調査の広がりと深さを追究する。
