项目摘要

本研究の目的は、日本における家族構成による学力格差の程度とメカニズムを明らかにすることである。日本におけるひとり親世帯の増加や貧困状況は明らかになっているものの、ひとり親世帯の子どもの教育に焦点を当てた研究は少ない。2022年度は特別研究員として米国スタンフォード大学で研究を行った。（１）米国の全国教育統計センター（NCES）が実施する大規模学力パネル調査の特徴について、調査を行った。NCES職員のインタビュー、およびNCESのテクニカルレポート等の分析を通して、過去50年間の米国における学力パネル調査の手法や焦点の変化のみならず、格差の視点が調査設計にどのように表れ、調査設計や質問項目で格差を捉えるためにどのような工夫がされてきたかを明らかにした。今後日本の学力調査で家族構成による学力格差を把握する上でも、調査設計や質問項目、また調査の実施体制に対する有益な示唆が得られた。（２）全米の学力格差のトレンドを分析しているReardonから複数のデータ結合するための前提、データ構築手法・データ分析手法（信頼性の考慮、標準誤差の推定等）について学んだ。また、ReardonとPISAデータを用いて、国際比較可能な新しい学力格差の指標を構築し、教育制度や社会構造との関連を検証した。従来とは異なり学力格差の分布、学力格差の相対的な度合いに着眼した点、またどのような教育制度や社会構造の国で下位層の学力の不利が大きく（あるいは上位層の学力の有利が大きい）傾向があるのかを明らかにした点は、学力格差の国際比較研究において意義が高いと考える。
