背景と目的： 　認知症に併発する睡眠障害は頻度高く、介護者の不眠の要因となるので、認知症と介護者の睡眠障害への対応は喫緊の課題である。しかしながら、患者は睡眠障害に病識はなく、介護者による患者の睡眠に関する観察記録は介護者の睡眠への妨げとなるので困難である。従来の睡眠評価は、介護者の記録もしくはアクチグラフ・ポリグラフ検査などが主体であった。しかしながら、このような評価方法では、認知症疾患別の睡眠障害の発現様式の差異、概日リズム障害などを測定できない。そこで、簡便で長時間継続可能な行動指標と生理的指標の多面的評価により、認知症と介護者の睡眠障害の原因を、心理・環境要因と生物学的要因により明らかにし、その分析により、患者と介護者の睡眠障害への新たな介入を確立できないだろうかということが本研究の背景である。そこで睡眠に関する指標を多角的観点から、認知症の睡眠障害の特性を疾患別に明らかにし、それらの分析をもとに患者への行動的介入・介護者の認知行動療法を統合した新たな方略を考案・有効性を検討することが全体の研究計画である。具体的には1 認知症の睡眠障害に関する指標を測定、疾患別に比較検討し、他の精神症状との関連性も検討、介護者の睡眠障害に関しても行動指標などで測定し、介護負担などとの関連も検討し、2 認知症の睡眠障害に関しての行動的介入と介護者の不眠に関する認知行動療法の統合的プログラムの作成とその効果検証を行う。結果：研究計画を研究者分担者と協議し、患者と介護者をリクルートできる体制を構築しデータを集積している。以前に構築したデータを再解析し、アルツハイマー型認知症、レビー小体型認知症、前頭側頭型認知症の患者と介護者の睡眠障害に関連する特性を分析し、学会にて発表した。
