本研究の目的は，生体の反射（瞬目）という極めて低次の無意識的な応答を利用し，複数感覚情報の同時性に関する知覚処理を網羅的に検討することである。多感覚情報の対応関係を決定するため，同時性は必要不可欠な情報である。これまでの研究では，言語報告やボタン押しなどで主観的な報告に基づいていたため，「この場面では同時に感じるはずだ」など，判断や応答のバイアスの影響が含まれていた。本研究では，判断や応答のバイアスが介在しないヒトの生体反射である瞬目反射と古典的条件づけ手法を組み合わせた新たな実験手法を用いることで，複数感覚情報の時間処理に関する低次の精緻な知覚処理の存在を実証する。本研究において瞬目条件づけを計測するための実験環境の整備を行うことが必須である。昨年度，当初予定していた眼球運動測定カメラを用いた計測では微細な瞬目反射を捉えることが出来ないことが判明した。今年度は，共同研究者の協力を得ながら，脳波計測用の電極を用いることで微細な瞬目応答を捉える環境を構築した。さらに，複数名を対象として予備実験を行った。当初の予定では，応答の指標として瞬目回数を用いる予定であった。しかし予備実験の結果，生体ノイズの影響により瞬目回数は信頼できる指標とならないことが判明した。検討の結果，瞬目強度を指標とすることで，想定していた応答関数が得られることを確認した。コロナ禍により研究の進捗の大幅な遅延が生じていたが，今年度ようやく研究環境の整備が整った。
