In 2022-23 Kaken members continued to conduct document collection, emphasizing Japanese documents as the world re-opened and covid restrictions were reduced. Declassified Japanese documents helped add a chapter on the Korean War to the edited volume being assembled for submission to Stanford University Press.This year saw three major presentation events conducted by this kaken: 1) a sponsored panel in December, including two kaken members and a former Ambassador, at the Japanese International Security Conference at Kokugakuin Daigaku; 2) a joint public hybrid lecture by two kaken members in February at Nihon bunka kenkyujo in Kyoto; and 3) a sponsored panel, including three kaken members at an international conference on Cold War border conflicts, East and West, held in Udine, Italy.This year's publications included two volumes co-edited by buntansha, numerous articles, and presentations at Harvard University, Columbia University and the Wilson Center for International Scholars in Washington, DC.
