Wartime Experiences of Bavarian Soldiers at the Eastern Front 1915-1918

No comprehensive modern study on the wartime experiences of German soldiers at the Eastern front exists so far. The research project aims at an in depth analysis of Bavarian soldiers in Russian-Poland, Romania and in Ukraine 1915-1918. Central topics are experiences of violence at the front, perception of the civilian population and the influence of the Russian revolutions of 1917 on the Bavarian soldiers. The study analyses the heterogenity of the Eastern front as well as the differences between the Eastern and the Western front.
