项目摘要

本研究の目的は、明治時代の鉄道敷設が人的資本にどのような影響を与えたのかを考察することである。具体的には3点のテーマに着目する:1.鉄道敷設が物価の価格収束に与えた影響;2. 鉄道敷設が子供の健康状態に与えた影響;3.鉄道敷設が人材流通に与えた影響。本研究で用いるデータセットのうち、明治期の物価についてはすでにデジタイズが済んでいる。他に予定していた項目のデジタイズについては全体工程の4~8割ほどがパネル化された。また、明治の鉄道敷設状況についてはGISデータを基本としたパネルデータ化が済み、明治期の市場データセットとの結合が完了した。さらに、全国の市場間の「道のり距離」測定まで遂行した。この測定は当初予定しているすべてのテーマにおいて利用する重要な要素となる。また分析手法の選定についても方向性が決定した。ほか、必要に応じてマッチング手法,DID with Instrumental variableを利用する予定である。本課題で設定したテーマのうち、「1.鉄道敷設が物価の価格収束に与えた影響」についてはデータ構築および分析までは一通り完了した。ここまでの成果については論文としてまとめ、2019年度までにいくつかの研究報告を経て有用なフィードバックを得ている。現在はフィードバックをもとに、本分析の問題点に対処している段階である。今後の展望として、引き続きデータセット構築完了に向けて作業を遂行していく。選定した分析手法を応用し、小テーマごとに論文としてまとめ成果を発表する予定である。また、本課題が抱える複数のテーマを包括的に議論するための既存研究整理および背景整理が課題として挙げられる。データ準備と並行して、既存文献の探索および議論のための整理、本研究の位置づけの明確化を進めていく予定である。
