本年度は主にこれまでの研究成果を総合し、博士論文を執筆した。当初の計画においては、出土資料を活用して、上古音の声母韻母声調の三要素すべてを含む総合的な研究を行う予定であった。しかしながら、研究を進める中で、韻母・声調の二要素について議論すべき点が多いことを実感し、本年度は、その二要素に集中して研究を行った。まず、資料として、戦国期の楚簡に現れる韻文を収集・整理した。これにより、本研究のみならず、今後類似の研究を行う上でも、根拠とすべき資料を得た。この基礎資料を根拠として上古音、特に戦国楚地の音系についての検討を行った結果、従来の研究に対していくつか修正を加えるべきであるという結論を得た。従来『楚辞』や『老子』の韻文における韻字の振る舞いを根拠として、陽部と東部との関係が深い等、戦国楚方言のいくつかの「特徴」が指摘されてきたが、楚簡の韻文を観察した結果、その多くを改めるべきであるという可能性を見出した。また、これと対照的に、漢代の楚方言の特徴である、物部と質部との区別が厳格であるといった点が、戦国楚簡における韻文にもあてはまる等、興味深い現象もみられた。声調に関しては、中国語のいわゆる四声の内、去声と入声との関係に注目して研究を行った。楚簡韻文を総合的に観察し、従来の『楚辞』等の楚方言資料と比較、さらに同時代他地域の韻文も対照した結果、楚簡韻文における去声と入声との関係は、同時期他地域の資料と一致しており、上古入声字のうち、中古音の段階で去声へと転じている一群は、既に早くも去声への転入の傾向を示していることが明らかになった。以上述べた成果はいずれも音韻全体の体系に関するものであるが、この他にも、研究を進める中で副産物として、個別的な文字の読音の変遷に関する問題において新たな発見があった。
