第1に、戦前の教科書を網羅的に収集、目録化し、そこにおける「蒙古襲来」表象を分析した。検定期の小学校用の日本史教科書について、検定された143種類を目録にまとめた。そして、本文がオンライン公開されている場合は取得し、古書店などに出品されている場合は購入し、それ以外は所蔵情報などを整理した。その過程で、学海指針社編『訂正帝国読本』巻之8（集英堂、1894年）に「元寇紀年碑」の設計図が挿絵として掲載されていたことを発見した。これは、従来、管見の限り指摘されてこなかった点であり、日蓮宗僧侶も参加した民間の「蒙古襲来」の顕彰事業が学校教育に対して与えた影響を証明する資料として重要であると考えられる。第2に、第1の目録も利用しつつ、学校教育と宗教の関係について、従来充分検討されてこなかった新資料を分析し、その成果を論文として発表した。具体的には、1．1893年のシカゴ万国博覧会のために日本政府が作成した英文の日本史書における宗教に関する記述を分析し、修史事業、外交、学校教育の関係を考察した。2．法典調査会の議事録を分析し、1899年文部省訓令第12号の成立過程における学校教育と宗教の関係の再編について考察した。3．文部省官僚であった岡村司の意見書を分析し、文部省が「宗教学校」の監督を検討し始めた契機について考察した。これらの議論はいずれも、先行研究の問題点を解決する新規性や意義を有すると考えられる。また今後学校教育における「蒙古襲来」表象を分析するうえで、前提となる研究といえる。第3に、研究成果を英語で発表した。IAHR世界大会のプログラム委員会に提出したアブストラクトは、その審査を通過したが、大会それ自体が中止された。そこでその発表を発展させ、日本宗教学会第79回学術大会において英語により口頭発表した。なお現地調査は、新型コロナウイルス感染症の流行のため、断念せざるをえなかった。
