本研究は、大仏空(1930-84)の宗教思想を解明し、日本脳性マヒ者協会「青い芝の会」（以下「青い芝」）の障害者自立思想に対するその影響を構造的に明らかにすることを目的としている。この目的の達成に向けて、本研究では関連資料の探索・収集に努めてきた。現在では稀覯本になっている『青い芝』や『あゆみ』（「青い芝」神奈川県連合会）、文芸同人誌『しののめ』等の雑誌類を探索し、さらには大仏や横田弘の蔵書も調査した。この結果、大仏の最初期の宗教思想が集約された小冊子『聖道 念仏義抄文』や、雑誌『親鸞』に掲載された「最大の念仏者　キリスト」、さらには横塚晃一の主論文「ある障害者運動の目指すもの」に大仏が註記したパンフレット『CP解放運動のめざすもの』等、これまで知られていなかった大仏の著述をいくつか収集し、また彼の蔵書目録も作成することができた。他方で、横塚や横田を中心とした「青い芝」の70年代の運動・思想を分析するために必要な一次資料も多数収集し、また折本昭子や若林克彦、二日市安等、60～70年代の「青い芝」当事者の証言も検討している。2021年度は、これらの資料を整理・翻刻する作業を中心に研究を進めた結果、「Ⅰ基底としての「宗教」」、「Ⅱ障害者解放に向けて」、「Ⅲみずからを語る」、「Ⅳ歴史へのまなざし」、「Ⅴ晩年の思索」という5部構成の「大仏空著作集」の構想を立て、このうちの「Ⅰ基底としての「宗教」」を、詳細な解題を付して公表することができた。本年度は、横塚ら「青い芝」の運動に触発されて大仏自身の「障害者解放思想」が展開される諸論考を「Ⅱ障害者解放に向けて」として、また、大仏の人となりや思想をリアルに読み取ることができるロングインタビューをその付録も含めて「Ⅲみずからを語る」として、詳細な解題を付して公表した。大仏の思想を解明する上できわめて重要な資料を公にできた、と自負している。
