本研究では、17世紀初頭のフェリペ３世期の宮廷美術に焦点を当て、研究蓄積が豊富な前後の治世（フェリペ２世期、フェリペ４世期）との比較検討を取り入れつつ、フェリペ３世期の美術の特性を明らかにすることを目指している。新型コロナウイルス拡大の影響で当初予定していた研究期間を延長した結果、2022年度は研究４年目となった。2022年夏には３年ぶりにスペインに渡航し、本研究で設定した個別テーマの一つである、フェリペ３世期の宮廷で流行した「托身」への信心とその視覚化についてマドリードの国立図書館、エンカルナシオン修道院他で資料収集と作品調査を行った。同時期の「托身」への信心隆盛の理由、その起源といった問いへの回答はいまだ模索中であるが、今年度中には論考にまとめたい。他方で、一昨年より継続している黄金世紀スペイン・ハプスブルク家の宮廷彫刻に関する研究では、16世紀半ばのカルロス１世（カール５世）時代にイタリア人彫刻家レオーネおよびポンペオ・レオーニによって制作されたものの、その孫のフェリペ３世時代になってようやく王宮に引き渡され、王宮装飾の一翼を担うこととなった《カール５世と狂気》（プラド美術館）についての論文を執筆し、学術誌に投稿した（2023年夏に刊行予定）。同論文は、直接的にはフェリペ３世期より半世紀前の作品を論じたものである。しかし、伝統的に絵画に重きを置いていたスペイン・ハプスブルク家の王宮装飾における彫刻の役割が、フェリペ３世の治世を境にそれ以前よりも重要性を増したと見なしうることが確認できた点は、同論文での考察を通して得られた収穫であった。
