2022年度においては、新型コロナ感染流行の状況の影響下ながら少しずつ出張をともなう学会参加・資料調査を開始した。また、昨年より引き続き以下の3つのテーマに基づいて調査・研究を行った。（1）19世紀における西洋の戦争画の移入の様相、（2）トモエ会の活動と戦争画作例、（3）戦争画の展開におけるパノラマと水彩画の意義。これらのテーマに関する資料および文献調査をすすめることで、22年度はさらに日露戦争期に日比谷公園で開館した観戦鉄道の存在がうかびあがってきた。この観戦鉄道は、高橋由一に学び万国博覧会へも油絵の出品歴がある安藤仲太郎が主としてパノラマ画を手がけた、長大な絵が鑑賞者の前で絵巻物のように動くタイプのムーヴィング・パノラマという興行である。安藤は白馬会に所属しており、本作の監修には黒田清輝がかかわっている。黒田清輝資料にはほとんどこのパノラマについての言及はなかったが、日露戦争期において戦争画や戦争表象とは距離をとっていたかに見える白馬会と戦争イメージとの関連性はさらに調査をすすめる。また、研究の成果の一部をもとに、「絵葉書の戦争、掌上の帝国：　恤兵・蒐集・記念」（『もやもや日本近代美術　境界をゆるがす視覚イメージ』勉誠出版）および「絵筆とカメラと機関銃：　日露戦争における絵画とその変容」と題した論考を執筆し、『アジア遊学』へ寄稿した（刊行予定未定）。本論考は日露戦争における戦争イメージの変容をグローバルな視点と極東の日本のナショナリズムと地域性から概観するものである。これらの成果は、西洋および19世紀とは異なる20世紀日本の環境のもとで、戦争イメージが虚構と現実のあいだをどのようなビジョンとともにとりむすんでいたのかを考察するものであり、今後さらに調査をすすめる。
