本研究は、石橋家「家乗」の全文を対象に、本史料に記される事項を整理し、索引を作成することを目的とする。「家乗」は寛永19年(1642)から元禄10年(1697)までを記録する日記であり、記録者は、紀州徳川家の付家老三浦家の儒医として侍医・侍読を務めた石橋生菴である。「家乗」の特徴は、その記録内容の多様さにある。年中行事や職務内容といった公的な事柄だけでなく、当時世上を賑わせた事件や文学・芸能にいたるまでさまざまな種類の記事を収録し、関係する研究分野は多岐にわたる。「家乗」は影印版が既に刊行されており、本文は参照しやすい状態にある。しかしそのテキストは、漢文体と、変体仮名で記述される和文体が混在する大部のものであり、本書から特定の情報を収集したい場合には、そうしたテキストを都度確認しなければならないという難しさがあるため、「家乗」が有する情報を網羅的かつ簡便に検索できるよう、索引を作成したい。情報量の多い「家乗」から、研究対象に関係するキーワードをもとに情報が検索できるようになれば、近世前期の日本社会について、より広く深いデータが得られるようになると考えられる。2022 年度は、過年度より継続している、影印版(『紀州藩石橋家家乗』和歌山大学紀州経済史文化史研究所編、清文堂、1984年刊。原本は和歌山大学紀州経済史文化史研究所所蔵)を用いた石橋家「家乗」17 冊の翻字を実施し、作成したテキストデータは全体のおよそ80％程度となった。また、そのテキストデータをもとにしたデータベースの構築方法について、情報工学を専門とする田島孝治（岐阜工業高等専門学校准教授）と議論し、方向性を確定した。
