项目摘要

2022年度は「現在までの進捗状況」に示す事情により、研究の柱の部分は進捗に乏しく、主に現段階の周縁部分を構成する文化事象の研究に取り組んだ。本来取組む予定であったWilliam Wordsworthの自伝詩The Preludeの翻訳と、観念連合の観点からの注釈と解題の執筆については、改めて2023年度に第1稿の完成を目ざすこととした。成果をあげた文化事象の研究は以下の2点である。上記翻訳・注釈に盛り込むための、観念連合論と17、18世紀の身体論、経験論哲学、唯物論の関係、そして19世紀超越論への理論的貢献についての考察を進めた。文献調査や先行研究の精査の中で、19世紀の生命体論とそれに伴う思想が、それまでの哲学を乗り越えていく経緯をかなり明確にすることができた。その成果を、最近のロマン主義思想の研究書の書評に盛り込み、発表した。対象は、日本シェリー研究センター編『フランケンシュタインの世紀』である。また、観念連合論による物理的世界の認識については、19世紀前半のワーズワスの造園と風景描写を題材として論じ、人間精神が自然景観という物理刺激・インプットを、観念の連想を経ることによりどのように美学的対象と化したのかを、ロマン主義完成期の自然描写文書において分析した。その結果、造園という自然の物理性を文化が馴致し、限定された空間に再現する営みが、イギリス湖水地方の風景認識・描写という大規模な物理的自然認識の枠組みとなっていたこと、そしてこの枠組みにより、事物と観念、自然と人為という2組みの二項対立が、現代的な形に超克されていることを確認できた。この研究成果は口頭発表およびそのプロシーディングズとして発表された。
