项目摘要

前年度、エルンスト・ブロッホにおける「世俗＝世界的批評」を、コスモポリタニズム思想の系譜に位置付けながら読み直すという作業を通じて、人間の尊厳を求める「自然法」思想がブロッホにおいて持つ重要性を認識した。2022年度は、ブロッホにおける自然法思想の解明に取り組むと同時に、この文脈でブロッホに大きな影響を与えた人物としてエルンスト・トレルチに注目し、研究でも論じられることのなかったブロッホとトレルチの関係に光を当てた。その成果としては、『ドイツ語圏のコスモポリタニズム―「よそもの」たちの系譜』（共和国）に掲載した論考「歴史への遡行、世界市民的介入―トレルチとブロッホ」が挙げられる。これによって以下を解明した。1. ブロッホにおいて自然法の概念は、アメリカ亡命時代に執筆された『希望の原理』や、ドイツ帰国後に出版された『自然法と人間の尊厳』など後年の著作の中で、権威に対して「まっすぐに立つ」というモチーフと結びついて現れる。しかし第一次大戦時であるスイス亡命期（1917-19）においても、ドイツ帝国の戦争に対峙する中で「まっすぐに立つ人間」像は提示されている。2. ブロッホの自然法論に登場する諸概念は、トレルチに由来する。トレルチは既に第一次大戦前より自然法思想史に取り組み、大戦後には、西洋的自然法を受け入れてヴァイマル時代のコスモポリタニズムに寄与している。3. 第一次大戦期に亡命者となったブロッホは、トレルチの研究も踏まえつつ、a)ドイツのルター的自然法の解体、b)ゼクテ的自然法伝統の想起と活性化を試み、直立歩行する人間が連帯するコスモポリスを構想した。経済的平等を目指す「社会的ユートピア」と並ぶ「自然法」の重要性を後年のブロッホも強調しているが、むしろ人間の尊厳を志向する自然法こそ、社会的ユートピアに先駆けて、その基底をなす、ブロッホの中核となる思想である。
