本研究の目的は、欧州評議会の「複言語・複文化主義」という考え方がヨーロッパ学校の実践にどのように反映されているかを検討し、日本への応用可能性を探ることにある。この目的にのっとり、以下のような調査・研究を行った。①「複言語・複文化主義」の現代史的意義の考察。②現象学の視点からの「複言語・複文化主義」の再構築。③死生学や医療現象学との連環の模索。①に関しては、平和構築の理念とも言える「複言語・複文化主義」の理解を深め、「ヨーロッパ学校」の理念、設置の経緯、カリキュラムを再検討した。さらに、ドイツ語圏の社会科系科目の教科書を収集・分類した。②に関しては、「複言語・複文化主義」を現象学の視点から再構築した。「複言語・複文化主義」は異文化間の対話を導く考え方であることを、「本質観取」という現象学的思考を用いて明示した。③に関しては、他者への向き合い方を考えることを促す「複言語・複文化主義」が、人生の最終段階の生き方を当事者間で話し合い、納得のいく対応を導き出す対話（人生会議）にも活用できることを示した。人間の内面にある複雑性への理解が深まれば、結果として相手の尊厳を守る姿勢につながる。相手への「リスペクト」が相互理解、信頼関係の構築の糸口であることを示した。収集資料から得た情報を体系化し、成果を順次、公表した。「複言語・複文化主義」の持つ現代史的意義に関する論考、死生学や医療現象学の知見を借りて「複言語・複文化主義」を新たな視点から考察した論考、共生社会における対話の構築に関する論考を発表した。さらに、「地域共生社会」の実現に向けた発表、ドイツの英語教育における「ランデスクンデ」の扱い方に関する発表を行い、参加者と意見交換した。2022年度の研究成果は、雑誌論文２件、学会発表プロシーディングズ１件、講演１件、国際学会発表２件、国内学会発表１件、図書（共著）１件で公表した。
