本研究の目的は通訳学領域における日中通訳通史をまとめることにある。通訳者と通訳行為を歴史的見地から、また日中双方の立ち位置から外観し、通訳者の果たした役割とその意義を再考する研究であり、また日中の通訳交流史としても位置付けられる研究である。研究遂行のため、本年度も昨年一昨年に引き続き、日本通訳翻訳学会の「日本の通訳翻訳史」プロジェクト会合に参加し、近世から近代における唐通事に関する文献調査と分析を行った。研究成果として長崎唐通事のひとりである鄭永寧に焦点を当て、鄭が近世から近代にかけて果たした役割と通事を取り巻くコンテクストについて論究した英文論文をプロジェクトメンバーとの共著で執筆した。2023年度に英国 Palgrave社から通訳学専門書籍として出版予定である。また、長崎唐通事の外交的役割に着目し、地域特性と役割意識を論究した中国語論文《中日翻訳史上的長崎唐通事：唐通事在翻翻訳業界扮演的角色研究》（日本語訳：日中翻訳史における長崎唐通事：唐通事の役割研究）を執筆した。当該論文は第２回全国翻訳文化シンポジウム（主催：中国海外言語文化比較学会翻訳文化研究会） の発表論文として採択された。なお本会議は、コロナ禍により三度にわたり延期され、2023年3月31－4月2日に武漢華中科技大学で開催された。開催が年度を跨いだため、詳細は最終年の明年の実績として記載予定である。このほか、現代の中国の通訳教育システムと通訳者資格制度CATTIについて、日本通訳翻訳学会年次大会で発表を行った。当初は本年が研究最終年であったが、コロナ禍で研究進捗が遅れており、成果発表の場にも制限があった。2023年度までの延長が承認されたため、最終年の明年には研究協力者とのシンポジウム開催も含めて研究成果の対外発信を模索中である。
