本研究の目的は、朝鮮出兵における実戦の指揮官たる諸大名の戦う動機の解明である。目的達成のために、Ａ〈積極的な動機に関する史料〉・Ｂ〈受動的な動機に関する史料〉を収集・分析し、大名たちが「なぜ戦ったか」を考察する。３年目にあたる2021年度はＡ・Ｂを補完的に収集し、これらも含むＡ・Ｂの分析により、３年間の成果を総括する予定であった。しかし、新型コロナウイルス感染症拡大の影響により史料調査の実施は１回にとどまったため、2022年度中に補完的な史料調査を実施し、研究課題を総括する方策をたてた。実際、データベースの活用などにより、2022年8月に総括的な研究を発表した。ただし、補完的な史料調査は研究発表後になった。この史料調査により、積極的な動機の１つである復権に関連する宇都宮国綱の行動が確認された。その行動に関する学術論文の執筆を進めている。１．史料収集：（１）『尊経閣古文書纂　諸家文書一』等の史料集を入手し、諸大名の戦う動機に関する諸史料を収集した。（２）東京大学史料編纂所のデータベースを活用し、諸大名の戦う動機に関する諸史料を収集した。（３）2月16日、東京大学史料編纂所において済美録・小田部好伸氏所蔵文書などの史料調査を実施した。２．史料分析：前年度までの史料収集もふまえ、諸大名の積極的な動機と受動的な動機の解明という研究目的に関する史料の分析を進め、次項（１）にあげた4年間の成果の総括的な研究を発表した。（２）前記「１.史料収集」の（２）（３）により積極的な動機の１つである復権に関する史料を収集し、分析している。３．研究発表：（１）朝鮮出兵における積極的な動機と受動的な動機を具体的かつ総合的に論じる「朝鮮出兵における諸大名の戦う動機」を発表した。
